Inpatient Drug Rehabs

Understanding the different types of drug rehabs

Any time an individual is suffering with a drug abuse or substance dependency issue, the first step in the right direction is admitting that they do have a problem. The next step is getting professional help for their problem and that’s where the challenge lies. The individual must filter through hundreds of these addiction treatment and recovery centers in order to find the right one. The first step is researching the different formats that these drug rehab centers use.

Depending on the severity of your addiction, you will have to decide between one of the out-patient or in-patient drug rehabs that are available. Additionally, the in-patient rehab facilities feature both long-term and short-term programs to choose from. The long-term program can last up to 4 months or longer, while the short-term typically lasts between 14 and 28 days. Understanding the difference between the two will help make your decision a lot easier.

Out-patient drug rehabs – for the individual who has a week filled with career and family obligations or is still pursuing their education, the out-patient rehab is ideal. They are able to conduct their weekly business, receive treatment for their addiction, and then return home in the evenings. Out-patient programs are also ideal for the individual who doesn’t have the financial means or health insurance coverage for a residential program.

In-patient drug rehabs – the individual is required to move into this facility in order to undergo their addiction treatment and recovery. They receive 24-hour care and supervision while living in an apartment like environment complete with many of the amenities they are used to at home. The main benefit to these drug rehab programs is that the client is able to continually focus on their recovery free from the distractions of every day life.
